Anndalyn- "Raw Hide Bride" Teaser Set

Did a fun session with my sister yesterday. She lives out here in Arizona (Where we're still on vacation for Thanksgiving). It was so fun! It felt like we were playing dress up again:) We were inspired by Dolce & Gabbana's new "Denim Bride 2010" collection to put a twist on this desert shoot. She did a great job despite her doubts that she wasn't going to be able to "pull it off!" We did a couture makeup and hair job, put on her wedding skirt, cowboy gear and there ya go! Anndalyn never really had any bridals taken so the ones shot with the wedding skirt can make up for those, however the photos just waist up can be simply haute fashion photos for her and her hubby to enjoy! She has been married for 4 years now! This shoot roves that you dont have to be recently married to do this type of shoot, or even a prom goer!

Trash the Dress- In Depth..

A Trash The Dress (TTD) session is an additional session after the wedding with either bride and groom or just the bride. You get dressed up again to go to a different location, typically a beach, and have a creative shoot to “trash” your wedding dress.

A TTD session is almost a declaration that the wedding is done and the dress will not be used again. (because you’ll be together forever!) It’s an alternative to storing the dress and trying to get your daughter to wear it in 20 years for her wedding. (If only we were all so lucky!.) The wedding is over and so I say “why not?” But if you don’t want to destroy your dress, what’s the harm in getting it a little dirty. That’s what dry cleaners are for!

Every couple wants tons of great images of them together, but they don’t want to leave their wedding party to do it. A TTD session offers your photographer the opportunity to do just that. Being pulled away from your meticulously planned wedding day to do a photo shoot is not always ideal. TTD provides those fun fashion style images without taking away from your day. Adding a TTD session to your wedding package can only increase your image choices. Plus, it’s fun!

The place of your trash the dress should reflect your interest and personalities. Pick a theme that you enjoy or that has special meaning. Don’t limit your TTD to the beach just because that’s what everyone else is doing. Horseback riding, ocean romping, cemetery dancing, urban allies or a desert scene all make different statements. Pick a that means something to you and the beginning of your new life together.

Think outside the box. Go for something more than a pretty backdrop. Rent a cool car or even a small plane. Recreate your first date or go play your favorite sport. Do something fun and interesting, and you’ll have a much better time during your TTD session…and better yet, you’ll love your images even more! Ari has several locations up her sleeve as well that may inspire you should you have a “lovers block”. Best of all with all of Ari photography’s printing options these photos will become work of art on your walls rather than the typical same ol’ same ol’. Show stopping pieces I like to call them.

Should you be interested in tacking on a trash the dress session to your wedding package or even just doing a session for some fun- contact Ari at ariphotography@yahoo.com.

Jalisa- "Drown the Gown" Session

This session ended up turning out pretty great considering we only shot for about 35 minutes. We turned up with so many great shots! The rest of the time was spent lugging the wet dress and ladder et down and up the hill! Jalisa did a great job- poor girl almost got washed away in the current!
This session is a good example of how far (or not far) you can go with a trash the dress session with me. Its all an adventure and so much fun! Interested in what you would look like in this type of situation? Wedding dress, prom dress, or just clothes? Email me and book a session and we'll see! You dont HAVE to go in the water- heck the session doesnt even have to consist of water, its just getting you away from it all and guaranteeing some pretty haute photos:)

Love this shot above, very sports illustrated- great job Jalisa!

"Drown the Gown.. Couture Style" Eat your heart out Twilight fans!

This was an incredible session. Isnt this bride gorgeous? By the end of the shoot I decided she was a good mix of Mandy Moore, Angelina Jolie and Smallvilles Lana Lang- Kristin Kreuk. She couldnt stop laughing when I told her she looked "just like that chick from Superman":) (Ok so I was concentrating on the shoot not my wordage!) The water was FREEZING! You could never tell by the look on her face though, signs of a true model! You go Krystal! So excited to do your family shoot!

For those of you saying- what the heck is a "Trash the Dress" session and "how could you!"?? Well a trash the dress session is pretty much when you take something gorgeous like a bride in a wedding dress or a senior in a prom dress or suit, and put them in a situation that you would never expect to see them! The trash the dress session before this was a bit different than this one- we hardly got her dress dirty! Yet we were shooting in essentially a dumping zone. They make for more shocking photos. I love them!!!!

This photo above is for all of those "Twilight" fans out there- eat your heart out! Who knows- perhaps there is a glimpes of twilight in you as well!
