Jamie: Edgy Fashion and CoutureTrash the Dress Session

What a BLAST of a session! Makeup, dress and hair took longer than the actual shoot but it was well worth the time! Love both of these "Looks" for the same senior:) You go Jamie!

Black and White Collection..Science of the Shades

I have never been a real fan of black and white photography, except for Ansel Adam's work in Yosemite. I had planner in Elementary School with each of his photos to mark a new month and was in awe by it daily. I however, grew up in a family of artists, my father being an abstract artist obsessed with extreme colors and my mother a singer, dancer, music teacher and professional makeup artist. Can you see how color could very possibly be ingrained into my very soul!?:)
The other day, I ripped out a stunning photo in Cosmopolitan magazine that intrigued me once again as Ansel did so many years ago. With this shoot I intended to edit a few in Black and White and hope to gain some sort of an emotional effect out of it...As a friend stated a few years back, "black and white photography is not simply the "desaturation" of a photo as photo shop would call it, it is a science of the shades"

These photos don't quite convey the emotion that my typical color photos generally give off, however I am liking this bit of change. Keep an eye out for more photos I will now include in something called my "Black and White Collection".

Baby Cake- Crenshaw Boys

Especially love these top two...

Did a quick mini session the other night of these adorable boys, clearly with the cold outside and a newborn, we couldn't have an outdoor shoot. Their daddy is a fireman, hense the fire truck. Keep an eye out this summer for a complete family session of this adorable family!

Karrie Seniors: Trash the Dress, out on a limb!

This was such a fun sesssion. We lost light pretty quickly because we worked on clothing an makeup longer than usual but what a blast!! We got plenty of shots:) This is one of the locations my sons and I scouted out last week as I mentioned on facebook. I like to try to switch up the photo locations, that forces me to have more locations for my clients to choose from! Karrie brings an excellent couture yet edgy vibe to this shoot. There is something about this river that brings a real "Twilight" feel which my Twilight fans love!
This is a typical Ari Photography "Trash the Dress Senior Session". I personally feel that there is a whole lot of creativity being lost in the generic senior photos you see now adays. I offer my brides this type of session as well. Many of my seniors also enjoy a fashion or model senior session. You can have announcements, wallets, canvases et printed through Ari Photography of these photos. So why be generic? In the case of this session.."go out on a limb!"

This photo above as well as the top are my favorites so far...yet this being just a "teaser set" who knows I could find a new favorite amongst the 100 more I have to go through!:)
